A wild character name appears!
Now that I have the name of the game and protagonist, I have been coming up with some more ideas for other characters. Specifically, the fortune teller who is a pivotal part of Oiseau's journey.
I've had the look for her in my head for a while (sketches to come soon) but I wanted her look to rely heavily on classic tarot card aesthetics. I love their style, and after some research, have discovered that bird imagery plays a very important roll in a few cards (which honestly couldn't be more perfect).
So what did I decide to name this important mentor/fortune teller? Colm (pronounced Kahlum) which is Irish-Gaelic for Dove.
Doves play a very important part in some important tarot cards, according to divinationandfortunetelling.com.
A dove bird makes an appearance on the Ace of Cups. The Ace of Cups obviously is a card of love, peace and femininity and doves are often signals of these things. Also, the Ace of Cups is often interpreted as being a very spiritual card, seen as it is the first in the Cups suit (which is a suit aligned with the water element reflecting intuition, emotions and psychic ability).
So not only does the Ace of Cups mean female intuition and psychic ability, but also has a dove who represents the bringing of news, and guidance, making Colm the perfect name for the character who sets Oiseau on her journey and provides assistance for her when she is at her lowest point.
